Universal

Performance and Efficiency

Update

As a world-leader in water softening, conditioning, filtration, purification and home empowered water system technologies, Intermountain is committed to continuously updating and upgrading our software & hardware platforms.

The Evertech technology embedded into your Intermountain system ensures that your existing investment can be leveraged into the future through Intermountain's Universal Software Update Programs.

The 2010 Performance & Efficiency Updates include the following benefits:-

  • Fractional Brining to optimize salt consumption
    • This feature allows your system to observe your water usage habits and make intelligent decisions about how and when it cleans. It will use a fraction of the regular amount of salt per cleaning if you are water efficient.
  • User-customizable performance efficiency settings
    • Finally, you have control of your system efficiency and output water quality at your fingertips. Whether you enjoy the silky, luxurious feel of soft water, or want to “run lean”, you’re in total control.
  • Enhanced Pur-Gard cycles to maximize drought protection
    • With groundwater levels falling across the region and water quality declining in many areas, your system is now able to inject Pur-Gard in greater proportions to further protect your system, your home and enhance your water quality.
  • Increased water efficiency
    • Your system will automatically adjust the amount of cleaning water used when it cleans, depending on how hard your water is, and how much water you use.
  • Antibacterial enhancements to protect your system & your family
    • Since HPC’s (Heterotrophic Plate Count Bacteria) can colonize water softeners, we have further enhanced your system’s ability to protect from bacterial build-up through enhanced cleaning routines and stochiometric Pur-Gard injection.
  • System awareness of ferrous iron levels in water
    • While your softener is no substitute for an iron filter, most, if not all water softeners are exposed to iron and other metals on a daily basis. Iron can exist in city water due to corrosion of pipes & fittings. Iron is very harmful to traditional water softening resins and along with chlorine, can significantly accelerate the natural attrition rate of your water system. Your system can now be advised of the amount of iron found in your water each year during your tune-up service. Once your system is aware of the iron level, it will make numerous adjustments to its programming profiles to ensure a continuous supply of good water while minimizing system wear.
  • Enhanced environmental efficiency curves
    • As we strive for a greener planet, your system default profiles and cleaning efficiency curves are enhanced and upgraded to make the same great water that you enjoy now, with a smaller environmental footprint.

New System Programming Sequence

1.   Accessing the End-User level:

Make sure that the system is in service mode.

Push the STAR button; the display will show:

Set Clock

You are now in the End-User level; use the STAR button to advance through the different programming parameters.

2.   Available programming parameters:

Time of day setting:

 Set Clock

The display will show:

Push the UP or DOWN button to set the correct time of day.

System Efficiency

The display will show:

Set Efficiency

Push the UP or DOWN button to select the level of efficiency that you’d like to operate your system at. Best performance is usually realized when the efficiency level is kept in the middle.

Water Hardness

The display will show:

Set hardness

Push the UP button or DOWN button to enter the harness to tested level in grains per gallon.

 Iron Chemistry

The display will show:

Set the influent iron level

Push the UP or DOWN button to enter the tested amount of ferrous (clean water) iron in your water

Antibacterial Override

The display will show:

Set antibacterial override

Push the UP or DOWN button to adjust the number of days before the system will clean if water usage does not initiate the system to perform a cleaning cycle. Due to advance fractional brining technology, the system will only use the exact amount of salt to match the amount of water that you have used. If you haven’t used any water, the system will simply backwash and inject Pur-Gard, keeping you water fresh & saving you money.

Delayed Cleaning Mode

The display will show:

Set delayed cleaning time

Push the UP or DOWN button to adjust the time in which you want the system to clean at, if left in this mode the system will perform its regeneration at the programmed time of regeneration.

  Immediate Cleaning Mode

 The display will show:

Clean now - press STAR to cancel

If the control is left in this position, the counter timer will count down to 0 sec and start a manual cleaning cycle.  To cancel this mode, push the STAR button before the counter timer has reached 0 sec to exit end-user programming and return to the home page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can you change the software on my water softener, it doesn't take disks ?

Your Intermountain system is so much more advanced than a regular softener, conditioner or water filter.   In fact it is more powerful than even some home computers.   Intermountain Water's certified technicians and service representatives are equipped with the latest handheld digital programmers that attach directly to your water system to allow your system to receive the software updates through direct digital download, safely and securely. Secure Digital (SD) technology is the primary vehicle, ensuring that the software applied is genuine Intermountain quality.

Do I have to perform the update ?

No, you can stay with older technology if you'd like. This update is included as part of your periodic system maintenance service.

Can I perform the update myself ?

Unfortunately not. The update should be performed by a technician who has been appropriately trained and certified, to ensure proper installation of the software/hardware as necessary, using factory approved tools and techniques.
